I have been more busy with school than I ever thought I could be.
Even now, as I type this, I'm procastinating homework that I should be doing.
Its due Tuesday, which gives me some time to do it.
But I've got more homework due then too.
Especially my math IA, which will be a beast to type up.
So I apologize for my busy-ness. I will do my best to put some stuff up.
And take some more pictures. I definitely need to do that soon.
So I went to my second show last night (the first being EdgeFest four years ago, but I don't really count that).
It was Between the Buried and Me's The Great Misdirect Tour, and it was amazing.
Besides BTBAM (who was headling), three other bands performed.
Scale the Summit, The Devon Townsend Project, and Cynic.
Scale the Summit was amazing. They're an instrumental metal band from Texas, and their tapping was amazing.
I didn't really like Dave Townsend that much, but it was alright.
And Cynic was amazing. They're a prog-metal band of hippies. I mean, really.
On stage, the guy said "I really like the vibe in here." Epic win.
Some of the mellowest metal I have ever heard. Great stuff.
And of course, Between the Buried and Me.
My God, they were amazing.
I got to the concert venue an hour and a half early, so I could get in front (turns out the ticket-people let will call in first, so it wouldn't have mattered). But I got in, right in front. I was at the stage the entire time. So when they came on, I was literally sandwiched against the stage. But I didn't care. I was a foot away from the greatest band ever the whole time. I could've reached out and touched the lead singer, the guitarist, and the bassist at any time; I was that close. They played some songs off their new CD (The Great Misdirect, one of the greatest pieces of musical art you will ever listen to), some songs off their last CD (Colors), one song off of Alaska, and then one from their first CD. It was amazing. The way they ended their concert?
With their longest song ever. Just over 17 minutes of epicness (the song is called Swim To The Moon). And then there was the encore...
(They played White Walls for their encore, 15 minute song. Yeah.)
After the concert, I got to shake all the band member's hands, and I talked with Dusty (guitarist) and Dan (bassist). Dan's a real nice guy. They signed my shirt too.
I had the absolute time of my life. I'm still nursing my throat back to health from screaming and singing along. And my neck from being at the very front (I was literally squashed against the stage. I had to push around just to stay up-front). They're amazing. SOOOO worth the time and money.
Anyone who took the time and was actually interested in reading this whole thing gets a cookie.
Seriously. Sorry about the length, everyone.
